Konnichiwa! What a month September was for us...capped by a visit from Bill and Debby but it was filled to the brim from beginning to end.
We started the month with a trip to one of our favorite beaches out on Ikei Jima. Here Ellie is leading the way to the water. This is the beach if you are looking for uni or sea urchin. We are not a fan of the taste so we just collect the shells.
This month we also conducted our (what seems to be quarterly) wine tasting with the Platt's. Below Joe is pouring a bottle of 2002 Dom that was served with (you see that photo correctly) hot fries from none other than McD's. Ellie couldn't seem to wait for the fries to cool.
Above is the whole clan...Ellie included. Below is our sashimi course...homemade mind you!
And finally we got to September 17 when Bill and Debby landed exhausted but safely in Naha. What a trip we had--we might was well call the trip planes, trains, automobiles and boats. We made it by car to the northern and souther cape of Okinawa Honto (the main island). We traveled by ferry to Akajima (our favorite weekend gettaway). Then we traveled by plane to Hiroshima to see Peace Memorial Park. Finally, we hopped a train up to Kyoto for some more sight seeing. If you are counting that is 4 modes of travel in two weeks. Gosh we were tired at the end.
